Champions League: Arsenal fall to Shakhtar Donetsk

The Gunners made a disappointing game and were too confident to see how dangerous Shakhtar Donetsk could be. The Ukranian squad beat Arsenal 2-1 with goals by Chygrynskiy (28') and Eduardo (45'). Theo Walcott netted the only goal of the London team.

As we know, Cesc Fabregas was not fit for this game, and the team seems to have no alternatives in some key positions.

The Gunners' captain is important for Wenger, that's why Cesc is not traveling to Ukraine with the rest of the team, therefore he will miss the Champions League match against Shakhtar Donetsk.

Cesc's Arsenal crushed Silva's City

It was a promising match between two of the favorite teams in the Premier League. And it was an opportunity for Manchester City to remain close to leader Chelsea, but Arsenal was just too effective to let them even gain one point. In the end, the Gunners, with Cesc on the field, destroyed City 3-0.

Arsenal goals were scored by Nasri, Song and Bendtner. The game was not tough at all for Wenger's side, who controlled the ball most of the time.

In fact, Dedryck Boyata's red card in the first five minutes of the game was the key to understand this disappointing performance of City. And after all, they got lucky when Cesc Fabregas missed a penalty shot that could have been another goal for the Gunners.

Euro 2012: Spain to face Scotland without Cesc Fabregas

According to Iker Casillas, everybody wants to beat the World Champions, and that's true. Spain will battle Scotland today for a place in the Euro 2012, and the "Red Fury" will not have an easy match. Del Bosque will have almost all his main footballers, such as David Villa, Iniesta or Xavi Alonso. But Cesc Fabregas could not make it for this game.

The clash will take place at the Hampdenpark Stadium, and the referee will be Massimo Busacca. Del Bosque's side are clear favorites but Scotland has some important players like Fletcher and Miller. However, it's not an easy job for coach Levein to get the three points.

The latest medical reports say that Fabregas is almost completely recovered, but he is still at London and will follow the game on TV, as his coach decided not to risk his leg.

Fabregas had just scored against Barcelona in their last game for the Champions League. Suddenly, he grabbed his right leg, and the pain in his face left us with no doubts. "I think I will miss the rest of this season" he said after the game. Arsenal doctors comfirmed that Cesc has a small fibula fracture, which could keep him out for about six weeks.

Arsene Wenger was aware of the situation at the end of the game with Barcelona. "I think it's the end of the season for him. It's sad because he is our top scorer and the captain too, but I think he will be present at the World Cup."

If everything goes ok for him, he will be recovered in May, days after the end of the Premier League. Only if his team reach the final of the Champions League, he would have a chance to play for Arsenal again this season.

Spain is concerned about him as well. Even though the World Cup begins in June 11, Cesc is way too important to even think about playing it without him. We all hope he can be back on time.
